A leak in a Romeoville oil pipeline has been stopped, but a spokeswoman for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said it will take weeks to clean up the spill.

Sam Borries, an on-scene coordinator for the U.S. EPA, said about 12,100 barrels of an oil and water mixture have been removed from a retention pond and the city's waste water treatment plant.

EPA spokeswoman Phillippa Cannon was uncertain when oil would begin flowing again through the pipeline.
